Met Office warns strong winds will hit the Burnham area today

Strong onshore winds created stormy sea conditions in Burnham at the weekend and the Met Office is warning of further stormy weather today (Monday).

It has issued a yellow weather warning for our area as southwesterly winds will increase during the day, with gales along the coastline.

Gusts of 50 mph are likely inland whilst gusts of 60 mph will affect some exposed coasts, it says.

"There is a risk of localised travel disruption as a result," says a spokesman. "Although wind strengths will probably be slightly less than Sunday's system there is still the possibility of some localised low level impacts."
