College Street and Victoria Street.
will be switched on during a whole day of entertainment outside
the Victoria Hotel on Saturday, starting from 12 noon.
community groups and schools will be performing festive entertainment
in the lead-up to the switch-on at 4.45pm by Glastonbury Festival
founder Michael Eavis. There will also be the annual BOS
Factor competition, with entries currently being invited.
new lights, which are overseen by Burnham Chamber of Trade, replace
the old illuminations which were several years old and had become
too costly to repair and maintain.
new lights have been bought by the Town Council using funding
from the Tesco 106 funding 'pot' to offset the expansion of Burnham's
Tesco store in recent years.
Clerk Denise Emery told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "This is good
example of the council working together with local groups for
the benefit of our community."
