Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search & Rescue receives boost from Mayor

-

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Mayor has presented hundreds of pounds to a town charity.

BARB Search & Rescue has received a cheque for £510 from Cllrs Michael and Maria Clarke, which came from donations at last year’s Civic Service.

The Mayor and Mayoress made BARB their chosen charity for the service.

The organisation operates two rescue hovercrafts and inshore rescue boats from its seafront station.

“We are very grateful for the support of the Mayor and Mayoress and thank them for this kind donation,” said a BARB spokesperson.

“The funding will help towards the cost of funding training and vital equipment for our volunteer crewmembers.”

“BARB is fully reliant on donations like these, so the team greatly appreciates the support.”
