Dozens of jobs go as Highbridge food firm enters administration

Dozens of jobs have been lost at a Highbridge food wholesale firm which has gone into administration this week.

KPMG have this week been appointed administrators to BFP Wholesale, a bakery ingredients wholesaler, located on the town’s Isleport Industrial Estate.

“The company, which employs a total of 165 staff based across four sites in Highbridge, Sevenoaks, Leeds and Livingstone, had undergone a sustained period of declining revenues, which was exacerbated by the withdrawal of its credit insurance,” a spokesman for KPMG told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The company subsequently ceased trading before the appointment of the joint administrators.”

“Upon their appointment, the administrators made a total of 74 redundancies at Highbridge and Sevenoaks.”

“The administrators are looking at the options for all the sites which includes seeking a buyer for the business and its assets.”

Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor, Cllr Michael Clarke, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This is terrible news, it’s very sad to hear of so many jobs being lost. My thoughts go to all those who are affected.”
