Photos: Three rescued by lifeboats at Brean after tide strands them

Three men were rescued after getting cut-off by the incoming tide at Brean Down yesterday evening (Friday).

Coastguards from Burnham-On-Sea and two RNLI lifeboats from Weston were called out at 5pm.

The three young men - all from Bridgwater - were helped off rocks at the foot of Brean Down by the lifeboat crew and taken to Brean beach where they were checked over by Coastguards.

Brean Beachwarden Dave Furber told "They'd been walking along the bottom of cliffs when the fast-incoming tide cut them off."

"They then did the right thing in calling the Coastguard when they realised they were stuck."

"The Coastguard asked me to keep an eye on them until they and the two Weston lifeboats arrived. The men said they were very grateful for the help."
