Burnham-On-Sea walkers invited to sign up for Brean charity walk

-

Walkers in the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge area are being encouraged to register for a new fundraising event taking place in Brean next month.

Registration is now open for the 2016 Brean Trekathon, supporting Children’s Hospice South West.

This family-friendly sponsored walk will start at 11am from Brean Leisure Park on Sunday September 11th.

Three distances are offered: the longest route follows a trail along the beach to Brean Cove, then over Brean Down to enjoy the fabulous views on the walk to Brean Fort and then return (7.5 miles total).

Those that don’t fancy the hilly Brean Down section can turn around at Brean Cove (5 miles total). There is also a toddler-friendly 1-mile beach walk.

“This is not a competitive event and participants are invited to take their time and enjoy walking along our lovely coastline,” said organiser Mike Barsby.

“Refreshments are available on route or better still bring a picnic. By taking part you’ll help to raise vital funds to support the families who use Children’s Hospice South West.”

“The sponsorship you raise will help Children’s Hospice South West continue to provide care for children who are not expected to live into adulthood, as well as support for their family.”

“This sponsored walk is open to people of all ages, from children to grandparents, and sponsored dogs are also welcome!”

Registration is free. There is no minimum sponsorship and any amount raised is welcomed. To register or if you just want more info please email mikebarsby21@gmail.com
