New Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat 'Burnham Reach' arrives at RNLI station

Burnham-On-Sea RNLI crews have this week welcomed their new D class Lifeboat, Burnham Reach.

After a year of fundraising by Burnham-On-Sea RNLI crew, supporters and local groups, the new D-Class Lifeboat was finally delivered to the lifeboat station.

On arrival the new lifeboat was launched for an evening training session and for crew familiarisation. On Sunday, the crew of Burnham Reach took part in a joint exercise with the crew of Staines Whitfield, the station's Atlantic 75 lifeboat.

Deputy Launch Authority Phil Counsell said: "There is an old and very appropriate concept, 'If it’s not broke, don’t fix it'! The D-Class lifeboat is the workhorse of the RNLI, and Burnham Reach is brand spanking new, with up-to-date equipment."

On Monday a party from Burnham-On-Sea RNLI attended the 150th anniversary of the lifeboat Cheltenham at Pittville Park in Cheltenham, as featured here.
