Burnham-On-Sea Carnival: 180 charity collectors aim for £12,000 total

-

A team of 180 collectors will be encouraging donations from spectators during Monday night’s Burnham-On-Sea Carnival with the aim of raising more than £12,000 for local good causes.

Members of the fundraising team met last night (Wednesday), as pictured here, to finalise arrangements for the event, which is celebrating its 70th annuiversary.

Jonathan Walter, Highbridge & Burnham Carnival Treasurer, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re really pleased to have 180 collectors this year who will be encouraging donations all along the route on Monday for 17 local charities and good causes.”

“If everyone watching the carnival gives a minimum donation of £1 on Monday evening then we’d raise over £30,000 which would be truly superb.”

And Collection Convenor Annalee New told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re grateful to all the collectors who have come forward to offer their help this year. With such an amazing number of people, we are hoping for a big collection in our 70th year and hope to raise over £12,000. We encourage everyone to give generously.”

The carnival procession will start at 7.30pm on Monday – with full details in our full Burnham-On-Sea Carnival 2016 Preview.

organisers say they are still keen to hear from any local people who would like to be stewards on the night – they can get in contact on the link below.
