PHOTOS: Dazzling Burnham-On-Sea Carnival wows crowd of 30,000

A huge crowd of 30,000 spectators lined Burnham-On-Sea's streets last night (Monday) to see the town's dazzling winter carnival.

Over 80 entries paraded through the town for the 70th annual Highbridge and Burnham Carnival.

While the weather was chilly at around 4°C , it remained dry, and the crowd numbers along the route were up on some previous years, said organisers.

Carnival Chairman Phil New told "It was a super evening - it was great to see big crowds out along the route enjoying it."

The biggest cheers of the night from local spectators went to Burnham-On-Sea's Hillview Carnival Club, right, with its colourful space-themed float called 'Reach 4 The Stars'.

Burnham-On-Sea Police said it had been a quiet evening for them, with no siginificant crime incidents.

Carnival Queen Hannah Sainsbury, pictured below with her two Carnival Princesses Olivia Moores and Rachael Nicol, led the procession.
