Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s best Christmas lights announced

The winners of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s annual Christmas lights competition have been announced by the Town Council.

Town councillors and members of Burnham Chamber of Trade visited scores of displays across the two towns before picking the winners this week.

In Burnham-On-Sea, the entries were judged by Cllr Peter Burridge-Clayton and Cllr Victoria Weavell, pictured above.

The best house award in Burnham goes to John Hill at 9a Brightstowe Road (pictured below) with Fay Donnellan at 52 Broadhurst Gardens in second place.

The award for the best group of illuminated houses has gone to Mountbatten Close in Burnham-On-Sea.

In Highbridge, the best house award goes to Trevor and Elaine Searle at 7 Fairdeane Road (pictured below) with second place going to Gemma Baillie at 6 Mallard Place.

The best decorated business in Burnham-On-Sea, judged by Burnham Chamber of Trade, was Flowers & Things in the High Street, pictured below.

Second place was Higos Insurance in Victoria Street. Highly commended were Freshair and the British Legion.

The best businesses in Highbridge were judged by Cllrs Nick Tolley and Janet Keen with first place going to Sandra’s Hairdressers and second to St Margaret’s Hospice. Highly commended in Highbridge were Inspired Hair Group and The Post Office.

Prizes will be presented at the Town Projects Committee meeting on Wednesday 25th January, 2017.

“There have been some superb entries this year and the overall standard and effort shown across Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge has been superb,” said Cllr Peter Burridge-Clayton.
