for more volunteers to help with Berrow dunes conservation work
are being encouraged to join a day of conservation work in Berrow
dunes on Sunday, March 13th.
University Conservation Group will be making their annual visit
to the Berrow Dunes Nature Reserve to undertake undertake sand
fencing for erosion control on the foredunes - and they will be
glad of any further additional help from local helpers.
Berrow Dunes has long been recognised as an important area for
District Councils Landscape Officer said: "The local
nature reserve, owned and managed by Sedgemoor District Council
is included within the Berrow Dunes Site of Special Scientific
Interest (SSSI). The site supports one of the most diverse floras
in Somerset, with at least 270 species of flowering plant being
recorded in this area."
Anyone wishing to help out should meet at 10.30am on Sunday at
the Nature Reserve car park, wearing appropriate clothing, footwear
