Storm Katie is set to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the Burnham-On-Sea area over the Easter weekend.

The first signs of Storm Katie are expected on Saturday, getting worse over the weekend and peaking on Bank Holiday Monday.

Unfortunately it is likely to be a traditional Bank Holiday washout after two weeks of dry weather.

The Met Office’s Emma Sharples said: “Typically, the fine weather breaks for the Bank Holiday weekend.”

“People travelling over Easter should keep in touch with the forecast. Thursday will see weather fronts. And after Friday’s sunny spells for most, Saturday will be windy across the country with 40 to 45mph gales.”

“Sunday looks like hefty showers and winds approaching gale-force. Monday has the South most at risk of severe gales, with rain crossing the country.”
