Burnham-On-Sea firefighters called out to Christmas morning blaze

-

Burnham-On-Sea firefighters had a busy Christmas Day morning, tackling a large industrial fire in Bridgwater.

Crews from Bridgwater, Burnham-On-Sea and Taunton were called out at 6am to a commercial unit on fire at the Transform Industrial Estate off Wylds Road.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: “Crews got to work in the heavily smoke-logged ground floor with two breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera.”

“The fire was located on the ground floor and extinguished. Breathing apparatus wearers were increased to four and crews also checked adjacent units for any sign of the fire spreading.”

“At 7.37am, the incident commander requested the environmental protection unit from Taunton to attend, with all available breathing apparatus cylinders. And at 8.21am crews confirmed that the main fire was out and they continued to remove fire debris.”

By 9am crews confirmed the fire was completely out and a fire investigation was able to begin.

The fire was extinguished using breathing apparatus, a main jet, 3 hose reel jets and a safety jet.
