Burnham-On-Sea firefighters tackled a blaze at a home in the town on Monday morning (November 28th).

Two fire engines from Burnham-On-Sea Fire Station were called to Marine Drive at 7.30am where the porch of a property was alight.

“On their arrival crews confirmed that smoke and flames were issuing from the building and they used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet, a covering safety jet and a thermal imaging camera,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The occupier of the property had been assisted from the property prior to the arrival of the fire service but received oxygen therapy for possible smoke inhalation whilst awaiting arrival of an ambulance.”

“Crews confirmed this to be a two-storey property with a fire in the porch area – 100% damage was received to the porch and a further 5% smoke damage to the remainder of the property. The cause of the fire was accidental.”

Crews have fitted smoke detectors to the property.
