Burnham-On-Sea's Gary Anderson through to world darts semi-finals

Burnham-On-Sea's Gary Anderson won through to the semi-finals of the World Darts Championships on Friday as he remains on course for a third successive title.

He overcame an onslaught of 180s from seventh seed Dave Chisnall to come out victorious in one of the greatest games seen on the Alexandra Palace stage.

After battling back from two sets down, Chisnall showed incredible heart to bring himself back to 3-2. He did so with a series of big scores. Between the two players, a staggering 24 180s were thrown in the opening 21 legs of the match.

But Chisnall's confidence dropped after missing darts to go 4-2 up and world champion Anderson punished the misses.

He beat Dave Chisnall 5-3 to tie up a semi-final date against Peter Wright, who dispatched James Wade earlier on Friday.

Gary lives in Burnham-On-Sea with his partner Rachel. He has three sons - Ryan, Joel and Tai.

Having previously worked as a builder, he and his partner Rachel previously ran the Wellington Arms pub in Rooksbridge, near Burnham, until a couple of years ago.

Gary was given a civic reception by Burnham and Highbridge's Mayor following his 2015 triumph, his first world championship.
