-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Gary Anderson won through to the third round of the World Darts Championships last night (Friday) as he bids for glory.

Gary is bidding for a third successive crown and beat England’s Andrew Gilding on friday evening after overcoming Mark Frost in his first match.

Anderson is the second favourite behind Michael Van Gerwen but said: “The standard is getting so high now and everyone can beat everyone.”

“I know the standard of players now and if you’re not on your game, you are going home.”

Gary lives in Burnham-On-Sea with his partner Rachel. He has three sons: Ryan, Joel and Tai.

Having previously worked as a builder, he and his partner Rachel previously ran the Wellington Arms pub in Rooksbridge, near Burnham, until a couple of years ago.

Gary was given a civic reception by Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor following his 2015 triumph, his first world championship.
