Members of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Band experienced an “unforgettable morning” when they played on the world-famous Pyramid Stage during the Glastonbury Festival on Sunday (June 26th).

The iconic main stage, which is one of the most iconic music venues in the world, has hosted stars such as Adele and Coldplay over the weekend.

The 30 members of Burnham and Highbridge Town Band were invited by Michael Eavis to perform on the same stage at 11am on Sunday as the first act of the day.

Tony Fricker, Chairman of Burnham and Highbridge Band, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a great honour to have been asked by Michael Eavis to play on the Pyramid Stage at the festival – it was a day that none of us will forget!”

“We started with a traditional march, Goldcrest, and then played Light As Air, which was popular with the audience. We also played Ticket To Ride, which went down a storm with the spectators, and finished up with The Hustle and Music by John Miles, where the crowd was joining in.”

Tony added: “As Adele played before us on the stage during the whole weekend, you could say she was our warm-up act although she might not see it that way!”

“It was a really memorable morning and to play at the festival was such a wonderful opportunity.”

“I spoke to the BBC afterwards and they kindly agreed to let us have a recording of the performance which will certainly be cherished by us all.”

Michael Eavis is a frequent visitor to Burnham and said in a national newspaper interview in 2013 that Burnham-On-Sea is his favourite place in Somerset, as featured here. He praised the town for being “laid back and unspoilt.”

The Pyramid Stage’s opening slot on Sunday morning has previously featured Burtle Silver Band, the English National Ballet, and Yeovil Town Band.
