Half Marathon Photos & Video: 200 runners take part
total of 203 runners completed Burnham-On-Sea's annual Half Marathon
on Sunday (October 3rd) in ideal weather conditions.
Richard Bateson from Yeovil crossed the finishing line in a fast
time of 1:14:50 and said he was "really pleased" to have
won, adding that the calm, mild weather had provided great running
Close behind in second with a time of 1:14:57 was Kieron Rodney
from Weston-super-Mare while third was Tim Hawkins from Wells in
a time of 1:17:08 - all three are pictured below.
local runner home was Matt Powell from Burnham Harriers in a time
of 1:32:59. Burnham-On-Sea's Jason Vickers, running in his 51st
half marathon, completed the run in a time of 2:37:02. The Harriers
team are pictured below.
of spectators cheered on the runners at the start and finish of
Sunday's race, which started and finished at the BASC sports ground.
Beale, one of the organisers from Burnham Harriers Club, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We are really pleased with how it went - we had over 200 finishers.
It was a great event."
runners headed along Love Lane and Queen's Drive, before turning
along the A38 towards Brent Knoll and then on to East Brent, Lympsham,
Wick Road and Red Road, before returning to Burnham.
of over 20 young runners also took part in a successful fun run
around the BASC Ground during the event, which was won by Ben Woods.
