Eighth annual Healing Festival comes to East Huntspill this weekend

-

Crowds of visitors from across the UK are expected to visit East Huntspill this weekend when a popular healing festival returns.

Now in its eighth year, The Healing Weekend will be held on July 8th-10th at Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre.

Organisers are promising even more treats in store for music lovers and families, as well as a huge variety of stalls and activities.

The multi-talented tribal musician Sika from New Zealand will arrive in the UK on 7th July, just in time to be at the event as part of his UK tour.

That’s not all that music fans can look forward to, as organiser Elaine Fenton explained to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are thrilled to announce that not just one, but four amazing acts will now be joining us following our competition to find new musical talent.”

“These will include lively folk band Homesick Gypsy, soulful songstress Lisa Doscher, captivating melodies from Patchwork Skies and musical theatre magic from Lisa Dollery. We can’t wait to see them all perform!”

Elaine and co-organiser Ron Tropman are ready to welcome even more people to the event, which supports Secret World and local businesses. With over 180 exhibitors, around 90 workshops, plus plenty of music, performances and evening shows, there is something for everyone.

The Healing Weekend welcomes families, and children will be in for a treat this year with news that the local group Somerset Sensational Kids, dressed as amazing Welly Fairies, will be offering a crèche facility, with face-painting, glitter tattoos, hair braids, arts and crafts, sensory activities, music, stories in the woods and more.

Secret World fundraiser Jeremy Duxbury told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re so looking forward to welcoming The Healing Weekend back to Secret World again.”

“As well as all the workshops and talks there will also be an opportunity to learn more about our work to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured wildlife, as well as just to soak in the beautiful surroundings and enjoy everything the site has to offer.”

Camping is available and can be booked through Secret World. There are just a few spaces left by booking at www.secretworld.org or calling 01278 783 250.

“The Healing Weekend is now one of the best loved events of its kind in the UK, attracting thousands of visitors,” added Elaine.

“It really is a first class event that Somerset can be proud of, supporting the first class charity Secret World.”

“If you have not visited before, you are in for a truly memorable experience – one the whole family can enjoy.”
