Dozens of people turned out to watch Highbridge’s Christmas lights switched on by the town’s Mayor and Mayoress on Saturday evening (26th November).

The ceremony was held besides the town’s Christmas tree on the Town Green in Market Street, as pictured here.

The children from Churchfield School’s choir sang carols and festive songs outside the Community Hall to give the event a festive feel.

Mike Murphy, Chairman of the Highbridge Chamber of Trade and Commerce, which organises the Christmas lights in Highbridge, said: “We are grateful for everyone who come along – it was a great festive atmosphere.”

“We also thank the Town Council for their support in providing the tree and Christmas lighting.”

The Community Hall was also open, serving teas and coffees alongside craft stalls.
