Final work is underway to complete this year’s carnival float at Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club in time for the start of the carnival season in less than three weeks time.

The club’s space-themed entry is called ‘Reach 4 The Stars’ and will this year feature a giant planets, stars and many moving parts.

Members at the club are busily putting the finishing touches to the colourful entry inside their new shelter on the Isleport Industrial Estate.

Hillview Chairman Duncan Britton told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are hugely grateful for the support of several local groups over the past this year for funding that has helped us construct our new shelter.”

“These include the Town Council, St John Ladies, Moose International, Burnham Carnival Association, Burnham Chamber of Trade, the Rotary Club, Manuflex and Burnham Waste. We are also very grateful to the land owner, Terry Rickards.”

“The new shelter provides us with lots of extra space and means we can build whatever the weather is doing outside.”

“We moved into the new shelter just a few weeks ago and we are progressing well with this year’s entry thanks to the efforts of our wonderful volunteers.”

It will go on public display for the first time at Bridgwater Carnival on Saturday 5th November and will then take pride of place at the 70th Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea Carnival when it takes place on Monday November 7th.
