Burnham-On-Sea fire crews tackle horse box fire at M5 services

Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater firefighters rushed to a horse box blaze at Sedgemoor Services on Sunday evening (April 17th).

Crews were sent to the southbound service station on the M5 motorway at 7pm.

Two fire appliances from Burnham-On-Sea and a water carrier from Bridgwater were sent amid reports that the horse box lorry was involved in fire.

The horses were being removed from the vehicle at the time of the call.

"On arrival crews confirmed all horses had been removed from the vehicle - there had been a small fire in between the inside and outside skin of the vehicle," said a spokesman.

"Crews removed the inside skin and extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet. The water carrier was returned and not required."
