12 months of growth and success following a major £250,000
When a sudden summer storm severely damaged King Alfreds Sports
Centre at Highbridge in August 2014 - as we reported
here - staff were left with a huge mess to clear up and they
mounted a round the clock operation to get the centre up and running
The roof of the building, the gym, dance studio, bar and reception
area were all badly damaged and part of the facility was closed
temporarily to allow the refurbishment work to take place.

is thriving with a 35% rise in membership.

The centre now has 530 members signed up to enjoy its modern facilities,
which include the innovative and interactive Prama training technology.
The centre was the first school site to have the technology installed
anywhere in the world.
The Prama studio has proved to be a huge hit with users, from disabled
groups to sports teams. The multi-sensory technology has inspired
users to work out in a fun but challenging way using integrated
LED lights, sensors and touch screens.
Manager Kelly Burne told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It has been an
extraordinary year for the centre which has enjoyed great support
from the local community which is clearly enjoying the new facilities,
have had gymnasts from Exeter, local rugby clubs and many people
with serious health issues who have come along and really benefited
from the unique exercise format of Prama."
investment in the centre has clearly paid off as we have also seen
an increase in attendances at exercise classes and especially Clubbercise.
