Burnham-On-Sea Kite Festival continues today on town beach

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s third annual Kite Festival got off to a high-flying start on Saturday and is set to continue on the town’s beach today (Sunday).

The free event will see demonstrations and displays from 10am-4pm, weather permitting, along with a chance for families to fly their kites with help from experts.

Organiser Gaynor Brown told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Everyone is encouraged to come down to the beach and try a kite.”

“There will be lots to try, from simple kites with one string to double-stringed ones with experts on hand to show you how to fly them.”

“Burnham is ideal since it’s usually windy and has a long stretch of uninterrupted beach to fly on,” she added. “It’s the thrid time the event has been run and this year it promises to be even bigger and better.”

“There are lots of committed kiters coming as well to display their skills because Weston and Bristol have both failed to run a Kite Festival this year so we’re the only local event.”

“It’s a fantastic hobby and very cheap and easy to get involved, so come along and try one and go from there.” Stalls will also be set up to support the event.
