Staff and children at Highbridge’s Churchfield Church School Nursery are celebrating this week after an Ofsted report praised the facilities as “outstanding”.
Ofsted’s inspector has ranked the nursery as ‘outstanding’ in every area in the June 2016 report.
“The staff work really hard to ensure the nursery is the best it can be, providing the very best in early education and care to the children we look after and their families,” a nursery spokeswoman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“All the staff are extremely dedicated and were pleased that this was noted by the inspector in her report.”
The report says: “They have an inspirational commitment to meeting the individual needs of each child in their care. The rigorous observation, planning and assessment processes are highly effective. Staff know the children extremely well and plan activities from their interests to challenge and stretch them in their learning. Children make rapid progress from their starting points. Staff prepare them exceptionally for the next stage in their learning and school.”
The nursery says it has made extensive improvements to systems and practices since opening in September 2015.
“The children engage with real life experiences and are benefiting from a mud kitchen in the garden and a construction area that is well equipped with toy and real resources,” added a nursery spokeswoman.
“As we are now part of the school the children have been able to have greater experience of school this year so we are hopeful that transition for those leaving us will be smooth.”
