A runaway success! Burnham-On-Sea Parkrun sets new record

-

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Park Run is proving to be a runaway success, with a record number of runners taking part in the event on Saturday (June 4th).

The latest run, pictured here, saw 243 people taking part in the run at Apex Park – beating the previous attendance of 218 runners set on 30th April.

Organiser Reg Huxtable from Burnham Harriers added: “We are really pleased with how our event has grown – we started with 60 or so runners and the numbers have gradually increased.”

“We couldn’t have done it without our volunteers – we need 18-20 each week for the runs to happen. Without them it couldn’t work so we are indebted to them for their help.”

“All the publicity around the decision to halt the Parkrun at Stoke Gifford in Bristol may have inadvertently helped us by raising awareness about what Parkruns are, ” Run Director Mark Benton told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The Burnham and Highbridge Park Run launched in June last year and the event is open to all runners each Saturday morning at 9am.

Park Runs are free to join, but runners need to sign up online here to get a unique barcode that enables them to log their finishing times each week.
