A life-sized animatronic polar bear captured the hearts of hundreds of Burnham-On-Sea residents during a unique visit to the town on Saturday (December 10th).

The Ritz Social Club in Victoria Street hosted a special visit by Bjorn, a realistic polar bear, organised by the Town Council as part of its ‘Frostival’ celebrations.

Over 500 families, friends and ‘big kids’ visited to see the three shows, which included educational information about the animals. Santa Claus was also on hand on Saturday to welcome visitors.

The Frostival is an umbrella term to promote the wide variety of acts and events held from Burnham’s Christmas lights switch-on in mid-November right through to Christmas Day at local churches to draw people into the town.

Bev Milner-Simonds, pictured below, organised the event during her time as Town Centre Manager.
