Council hands grant boost to Burnham-On-Sea rail heritage group

-

Sedgemoor District Council has presented a cheque for £1,250 to Burnham-On-Sea Railway Heritage Group to help fund history-themed projects in the town.

The Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, Councillor Ian Dyer, was thanked by Roger Miller, Secretary of the heritage group, in Old Station Approach to acknowledge the financial contribution from the district council.

“The grant from SDC has been a significant element in the success of the Heritage Group in moving the project forward,” said Roger.

An old station was recently erected where the former excursion platform was in Burnham, as pictured here.

“This initiative came about through the installation of the terminal buffers last year and is expected to be followed soon by other memorabilia for the interest of local people and visitors to the town.”

In January, £1,250 was awarded in grant funding by Sedgemoor, subject to match funding being received by Burnham-on-Sea Railway Heritage Group, as reported here at the time.
