A unique problem-solving event was held at Burnham-On-Sea Sailing Club this week involving over a dozen local children.

Pupils from Brent Knoll, St Andrew’s, Pawlett, Churchfield, Berrow, St Joseph’s and King Alfred School attended Wednesday’s education event.

“Some of the most ablest young Mathematicians in the area met for a morning of challenging problem solving at Burnham Sailing Club,” said head teacher Chris Burman.

“Children from six primaries and a Year 9 representative from King Alfred’s, Sam Ashton, had a tour of the boatyard with Club Commodore Dave Wrennall.”

“They then took part in maths work that was focused on how marine charts and boats use maths in a variety of ways, such as for direction, coordinates and angles.”
