Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Sea Cadets Unit is continuing to grow in size as it welcomes newcomers.

The Cadets have been very busy over the past few days with a street collection in Burnham on Saturday raising £332.96 and its Annual Unit Review held on Monday 16th May where the District Officer within the Sea Cadet Corps formally inspected the Cadets and Staff.

Burnham and Highbridge Sea Cadets offer activities to young people from ages 10 – 12 in its Junior Section and ages 12 – 18 in its Senior Section. These activities include adventure training, kayaking, canoeing and much more.

“The major projects for the unit this year are to increase our Cadet numbers, improve our training facilities and the courses offered to our Cadets, and to replace the Unit minibus which is used to transport our Cadets to other training facilities and to competitions both within the District and further afield,” said the group’s Officer In Charge Lt (SCC) Scott Fulcher RNR.

“After many years, the Unit now has a new Parent and Supporters Association, helping us work towards achieving some of our projects.”

“If you feel that you would like to become involved either as part of the Unit Management Team, as a member of the newly formed Parent and Supporters Association or would be able to help by way of sponsorship, please contact Mrs Carol Roberts c/o the Unit in Cassis Close or telephone the Unit for further information.”

Newcomers are welcome at the group’s parade nights on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7-9.30pm (Seniors) and Thursdays 7-9pm (Juniors).
