A swan caused disruption in Burnham-On-Sea this week when it decided to go for a walkabout along a busy main road through the town.
The swan made its way slowly along Burnham Road towards the main roundabout, as captured in this mobile phone video.
Eyewitness Clare Constance said the confused bird appeared to have mistaken the shiny, glistening surface of the road for water.
“Members of the public helped to guide the swan in the direction of Apex Park, while awaiting the arrival of Secret World staff,” said Clare.
“Unfortunately, the stubborn swan had other ideas and diverted into a garden for a rest on the owner’s lawn!”
“Fortunately, Secret World were quickly on the scene and managed to capture the exhausted bird and take it back to the centre for a check up, before releasing it back into the wild soon.”
