Walkers and other beach users have been warned to be aware of exceptionally high tides along Burnham-On-Sea’s coastline this weekend.

A series of high tides at around 12 metres are due, prompting Coastguards to warn beach walkers and motorists to take extra caution.

These were the scenes on Friday evening (September 16th) when strong onshore winds whipped up waves along the Burnham’s seafront.

The high tide times in Burnham-On-Sea today (Saturday) are at 7.56am (11.29m) and 8.17pm (11.67m), then Sunday at 8.40am (11.53m) and 9pm (11.8m).

Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard Officer Dave Welland said: “We do advise people to take extra care as there will be a greater risk of getting into difficulty during this weekend’s high tides.”

“Check the tide times and stay away from areas where you might get cut-off or into danger – particularly if you park on the beach or walk along the dunes.”

Crews at Burnham Coastguard, BARB Search & Rescue and Burnham RNLI will be on call through the weekend as usual to respond to any incidents.
