Council 'has considered moving into Burnham town centre'
and Highbridge Town Council's Clerk told a meeting last night
(Wednesday) that a number of options have previously been considered
to move the council into a more prominent town centre location.

week that the council should consider moving out of its current
building and into a premises in the town centre to save money
and make it easier for residents to access its services.
Clerk Denise Emery told Wednesday's meeting of the council's Policy
and Finance Committee: "This Town Council has looked at various
options over the years in the town centre."

added: "I would point out that if we sold Jaycroft Road and
moved anywhere else we would not simply be able to use the capital
to offset revenue or give it back to tax payers as suggested by
Mr Jones. That isn't possible."
Phil Harvey asked during the meeting for an assurance that tens
of thousands of pounds worth of repairs needed to the roof of
the Old Courthouse in Jaycroft Road would not be undertaken before
a dicussion about the future of the building.
