Photos: Zorbing rolls onto Burnham-On-Sea beach for the first time

-

These were the unusual scenes on Burnham-On-Sea beach over the weekend when the sport of zorbing came to the town for the first time.

Zorbing, also known as globe-riding or orbing, is the recreation of rolling inside a giant ball made of transparent plastic.

A steady stream of willing ‘riders’ jumped inside the orbs and were then able to propel themselves along the sands between the jetty and Pavilion.

The spectacle was watched by families from the sea wall steps. The attraction was supported by the Town Council and was run as part of Burnham’s celebrations for the Queen’s 90th birthday.
