Air ambulance lands in Burnham-On-Sea garden to help patient

-

An air ambulance landed in a Burnham-On-Sea garden on Sunday (February 19th) to help a patient following a ‘medical emergency’.

The Great Western Air Ambulance landed in the gardens of the alms houses in Berrow Road, near the junction with Stoddens Road, much to the surprise of residents there.

The green helicopter touched down on the lawns at 9am, as pictured here, before its onboard paramedic rushed to a nearby address in Berrow Road to assist ambulance crews with what was understood to be a suspected cardiac arrest.

A spokesperson said the patient had been taken to hospital by land ambulance following a “medical emergency”.

One nearby resident told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was quite a shock to see a helicopter land here in the grounds of Ellen’s Cottages for the first time, but it was skilfully landed by the pilot and was a wonderful sight. We are great admirers of the work they do.”
