Burnham-On-Sea to mark Armed Forces Day with parade
parade of local service charities and cadet groups will take place
through Burnham-On-Sea town centre today (Saturday, June 24th) to
mark Armed Forces Day.
parade along the High Street will be followed by a flag-raising
by local armed forces organisations, several cadet cores will be
taking part with the aim of raising awareness of Armed Forces Day.
various groups will assemble for the parade at the rear of The Princess
Theatre in Princess Street at 12.30pm.
parade will then move through town, arriving at the flag pole at
the junction of Pier Street and Old Station Approach at around 1pm
when a short act of remembrance will take place.
Royal Air Force Association (RAFA) will also be hold their annual
Brew For The Few coffee event at The Railway pub during the day.
and business window competition will also be held, overseen by Burnham
Chamber of Trade, with a trophy being awarded to the most patriotic
display. Town centre shops do not need to enter the competition
to be judged.
will be judged by the President of the Royal Air Forces Association,
Ex-Wing Commander John Bryan and the Mayor Bill Hancock and there
is a large cup to be awarded to the best dressed window.
