Burnham-On-Sea Police have arrested a man as they investigate a spate of burglares in the town during recent weeks.

Avon and Somerset Police spokeperson Wayne Baker confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A 39-year-old man from the Burnham-On-Sea area has been arrested on suspicion of burglary.”

Police confirmed that the arrest was “in relation to their investigation into a number of burglaries in the area.”

“We would ask local residents to remain vigilant, ensuring that they lock all doors even when at home and should they see anything suspicious to please call us,” he added.

The warning comes after a surge in the number of burglaries and attempts to gain entry to local homes in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge during recent weeks which, as we first reported, led to Burnham-On-Sea Police urging residents to lock doors after burglaries.

Anyone with information about the incidents should contact Burnham-On-Sea Police by calling 101.
