Crowds of people headed to Burnham-On-Sea’s traditional August Bank Holiday Monday summer fete in the town’s Manor Gardens.

The event – run by community group Burnham Events Social Team – saw a wide range of entertainment held through the day, helping a wide range of local groups.

It was opened by Town Crier Alistair Murray and the entertainment featured the Burnham Youth Choir, the Seaside Strummers ukelele band, Burnham On Song Senior Choir and local crooner Dennis Salmon.

BEST took on the organisation in 2016 after The Friends of Burnham Hospital decided they were unable to continue organising it.

A number of local charities and groups benefit from the fete including Sensational Kids, Lions, Rotary Club, Hands of Change, Somerset Time for Youth, RNLI, Somewhere House, Moose International and others.

The childrens area included face painting, a bouncy castle, hook a duck; ring the bell, popcorn, candy floss and a Toss Olaf game.

Burnham-On-Sea Socialites sold a selection of home made cakes, while The Ritz Club had a mobile bar and there was also Marc Lynham’s ice cream bike.

Other BEST events coming up include a 1960’s night on 23rd September at The Ritz; The Blitz night at The Ritz on 18th Nov and the skating rink opening on 16th December. A clairvoyant evening at the Ritz is also being planned for October.
