Burnham-On-Sea hovercraft called to help two dog walkers in mud

Burnham-On-Sea's rescue hovercraft was called out after two dog walkers got stuck in the mud at Weston-super-Mare.

The resort’s coastguard team were called out on Sunday, August 6th after a member of the public reported the pair stuck in the mud at Weston Bay.

The Avon Fire and Rescue Firefly Hovercraft was also scrambled to the scene.

A Weston Coastguard spokesman said: "On our arrival it was clear that they were having difficulties so we put a plan into action involving Firefly Hovercraft from Weston Fire Service."

"We put two of our team on board the hovercraft and brought the casualties back to safety."

The spokesman added: "We spotted other people out on the mud and decided to check on them to find they required our help."

"We assisted two ladies and their dogs back to the beach on the hovercraft."

The rescue operation was supported by the ambulance service, Weston RNLI, Clevedon Coastguard team and the BARB rescue hovercraft from Burnham.
