Burnham's Boots store plans security shutters after fourth burglary

A Burnham-On-Sea chemist shop has drawn up plans to install new security shutters following its fourth burglary this year.

As first reported here, burglars smashed through a glass door to enter Boots in Burnham-On-Sea High Street at 4am on Saturday morning (May 27th).

Store manager Rebecca Liu told that around £2,000 of stock was stolen in the latest burglary.

"It is hugely frustrating that we have seen so many burglaries here in Burnham," she said.

"We have put together a full business case for new security shutters at the store and these are being considered within Boots."

The latest break-in, pictured above, saw the burglars gain access to the store in an identical way to three previous break-ins on Sunday April 16th, Thursday April 13th and Monday April 3rd, prompting some to question whether the firm should now be investing in metal security shutters.

Police spokesman Craig Evry told "We were called to reports of a break-in at a shop in the High Street, Burnham-On-Sea at about 4am on Saturday morning. The two intruders left the scene on foot carrying two bags."

"Our enquiries are continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call us on 101 quoting reference 5217118568."
