Brean to Weston cycle path given financial boost from council
proposed new cycle path between Brean Down and Weston Pier has been
given a financial boost.
eight-mile traffic-free cycle and walking route called the Brean
Way is due to open in May, as first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com
District Council has this week named the organisers of the cycle
path as one of the recipients to receive grant funding.
groups across the district will benefit from nearly £19,000
of grant funding.
was granted to Greenways and Cycleroutes Ltd for completion of the
Brean Down Way a walking and cycling route from Brean to
£2,500 was awarded to Wembdon Cricket Club to purchase and
install a perimeter ball stop system. £2,500 was awarded to
the Wassail Theatre Group towards their Reclaimed project. £2,500
to Westonzoyland Engine Trust for the final phase of the project
is to complete new visitor facilities.
£2,450 is going to Somerset Film and Video Ltd to support
a creative wellbeing project for the general public and for those
identified with mental health issues. £2,400 has been awarded
to Cheddar Arts Fringe Festival to run a Willow sculpture workshop.
Cricket Club was awarded £1,396.56 to provide cricket and
coaching equipment, and Mean Feet Dance Company was awarded £975
to develop a weekly wellbeing group. £750 will also go to
Actiontrack to run a Gamelan Residency with young people.
And Pawlett Sports and Playing Field Association 1997 was awarded
£744 towards the 3G project. Victoria Park Young Adults Group
was awarded £250 towards new equipment and trips.
