Burnham-On-Sea fire crews and a fire service rescue team from Bridgwater were called out on Tuesday evening (August 22nd) to rescue a bull in a local river.

They were called to Tealham Moor Drove in Wedmore at 6.45pm where the animal was stuck in the River Brue.

“One fire appliance from Burnham-On-Sea, a Special Rescue Team from Bridgwater, and a Special Rescue Advisor were sent to reports of a bullock in the River Brue,” said a fire spokesman.

“On arrival, crews met with the farmer and discussed the best way to assist the animal from the water.”

“The Special Rescue Team crew entered the water, and once with the bullock they used lines to take control of its head to assist it back towards the riverbank edge to enable the farmer and the rest of the crew to remove it from the water.”

“The bullock was assisted from the water using the farmers tractor by lifting using lines.”

“The animal was unharmed and duty of care was left with the farmer.”
