Burnham car boot sale organiser apologises for huge traffic delays

The organisers of Burnham-On-Sea's BASC ground car boot sale have apologised to visitors after long tailbacks of traffic built up in the area around the event last Saturday.

"We saw unusually high numbers of both booters and public last Saturday, which is unheard of in the history of the car boot following a very busy bank holiday weekend," organiser Paul Stewart told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

"We can only put this down to it being the last weekend of the six-week holiday and, along with other events going on around the same area on that day, causing heavy traffic."

"We fully expect numbers to start falling as we near the end of the season, as we count down the last four Saturdays remaining."

"We apologise for the unexpected inconvenience and would like to thank each person whom encountered the traffic for their patience."
