Dozens of people attended Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Choral Society’s annual Spring Concert on Saturday night (29th April).

The popular concert was held in St John’s Church, Highbridge, in front of a packed audience.

The choir celebrated European music with a powerful line-up, singing Britten’s St Nicolas Cantata, Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine and music from composers Brahms, Verdi, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, who are better known as being the writers and singers of the Swedish group ABBA.

The choir were also joined by an orchestral ensemble, along with Tenor soloist Rhodri Prys Jones.

Rhodri, pictured, is from Llanfyllin in Mid Wales and graduated with a BA Hons 2:1 degree in Music and Media from The University of Wales Trinity St David in Carmarthen. He has recently graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a First Class degree, studying with Tenor Adrian Thompson.

He has begun his studies on Opera Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and is continuing his tuition with Tenor Adrian Thompson. He has also sung with the chorus in many operas including Gair ar Gnawd with the Welsh National Opera.

The society’s next concert is its Christmas concert on December 14th at 7.30pm in St Andrew’s Church, Burnham-On-Sea.
