Brent Knoll’s sixth annual Chris Evans Bike Ride raised another great sum for the British Lung Foundation.

Sunday’s bike ride saw dozens of cyclists participating, starting at the Red Cow pub in the village and then heading across the Somerset Levels with a total of 25 miles.

“We aim to have an enjoyable day friends and supporters and along the way we have raised £10,800 for the British Lung Foundation,”

The charity event, which was held in memory of local man Chris Evans, also finished with a social event attended by local people.

Chris passed away from a progressive incurable lung disease and monies raised from the charity event will go to the British Lung Foundation to aid research.

The raffle and auction prizes including a Team Sport Voucher which is for a Family of 4 Go-Karting experience, plus prizes from Butcombe Brewery, The Swan, Wyevale Garden Centre, the Village Hamper and Brent House.

Jenny Evans, Chris’ daughter and one of the organisers, said: “We had fantastic weather for the ride and, along with the music and everyone’s good company, there was a lovely atmosphere throughout the whole day.”

“The cycle ride is appropriate as Chris would cycle to the Red Cow for his regular tipple.”

“Thank you to all those who took part in the ride, and who supported and helped organise the event. My thanks also go to the individuals and businesses who donated prizes for the raffle and auction.”
