Storm leads to closure of Highbridge’s Churchfield School for a day

-

Highbridge’s Churchfield School was partially closed on Friday (February 24th) as a precaution because of safety concerns about a roof during this week’s high winds.

The school in Burnham Road decided to close for some classes, however pupils in the nursery, Holly and Juniper classes were still attending as normal.

Somerset County Council told Burnham-On-Sea.com the partial closure was a “precautionary measure” and had been prompted following health and safety advice.

A Somerset County Council spokesperson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Churchfield School has closed as a precaution because of concerns of the roof being affected by the high winds of Storm Doris. The school will fully re-open on Monday.”

The partial closure came after 60mph winds swept through the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge area on Thursday.
