Proposals to build a new drive-thru Costa Coffee restaurant at Sedgemoor Services on the M5 near Burnham-On-Sea have been given the go-ahead this week.

The new 990-square-metre facilities will be located at the southbound Sedgemoor Services between Burnham-On-Sea and Weston.

Roadchef Motorways, which submitted the proposals, says it will create four new full-time jobs and three part-time positions.

The drive-thru, with new access road, will be open from 5.30am-10pm seven days a week.

Sedgemoor District Council’s planning department has given the go-ahead for the plans this week after considering feedback from local groups.

East Brent Parish Council supported the plans on the proviso that new signs be installed at the site asking customers to dispose of rubbish responsibly.

The Axe Brue Internal Drainage Board has asked that no building work start until surface water drainage work is completed at the site.
