Recruitment for Burnham and Highbridge Town Clerk underway

Recruitment for a new Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council Clerk is underway ahead of the upcoming retirement of the current clerk this Spring.

Denise Emery is set to step down from the role on 31st March 2017 and the council is keen to put a replacement in place following a smooth transition.

The council says: “Burnham and Highbridge Town Council is seeking a highly motivated, pro-active individual, with excellent organisation, leadership and administrative skills, the ability to develop staff and manage resources effectively, plus a good knowledge of local government and an understanding of the issues facing the public sector.”

“The Town Council has six committees, and the Clerk oversees the Council offices, The Princess Theatre and three cemeteries. A record of excellent financial management skills will be required.”

“The successful candidate will ideally hold the certificate in Local Council Administration, have demonstrable experience in managing a vibrant organisation, working productively with Councillors and have a good working knowledge and application of current legislation. They must be able to form strong partnerships with the community and partners and be able to motivate and influence others.”
