Burnham-On-Sea dog owners urged to ‘bag it and bin it’ to halt fouling

-

Dog owners have this week been urged to “bag it and bin it” in a crackdown on fouling in Burnham-On-Sea after a walker took these photos of dogs waste bags being dumped along a local footpath.

“The problem is worse than ever, particularly along paths across the sand dunes near the golf course, where bags of dog waste are being left by irresponsible owners,” says the walker, who has asked to remain anonymous.

“It’s so disgusting to see these bags being left by paths and even thrown into bushes along what are otherwise lovely walking spots.”

“The problem needs to be highlighted to embarrass the dog owners into stopping.”

Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We always advise dog walkers to act responsibly by ‘bagging it and binning it’ using the waste bins provided.”

“There are waste bins provided along many paths off the beach and these should be used to properly dispose of dog waste.”
