Walker’s dismay at dog fouling along Burnham-On-Sea coast path

-

More dog waste bins are needed along the England Coast Path running through the Burnham-On-Sea area, one local user has called this week.

Sylvia Young told town councillors at their latest meeting on Monday (March 6th) that action is needed to reduce dog fouling along the popular footpath, which opened in Burnham-On-Sea last year.

She said that one regular walker had called in at Burnham’s tourist information centre, where she volunteers, and spoke about the “disgraceful state” of parts of the path.

“She said how surprised she was that along the coast path between Highbridge and West Huntspill there are very few dog waste bins,” said Sylvia,.

“She considered picked up the dog waste and taking it to a bin but it was so far to reach a dog bin that she didn’t.”

Town Clerk Denise Emery noted there are 60 dog waste bins across Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge, and suggested that the matter be considered at the next meeting of the council’s Town Projects Committee.
